How can we serve...how can we give...how can we help...

I've got this inspiring message from my friend Nick Ralls, which expressed beautifully what I feel, read it, enjoy it and share it.

Subject: HOW CAN WE SERVE... HOW CAN WE GIVE... HOW CAN WE HELP....

Affirmation for Saturday October 31st

I seek to serve and help people in my life.. because when I give without expecting a reward or a return on my giving I can feel real joy in my life. I seek new ways to serve, to give and to help because this is the key to happiness for both myself and others.

HOW can we serve the people in our life more...how we can we help them more...?

When we shift our overall thinking to what we can get to how we can serve... how we can give... then the world becomes a more loving place to be in.

For everybody.

In our relationships, in our communities, in our working environment, in our careers we have
grown up in a culture of thinking and feeling what we can get.

What can we get from the relationship?

What can we get from the job?

What can we get from the friends whom we invite into our life?

But there needs to be a fundamental shift in our consciousness from a world in which we get, to a culture whereby we prime ourselves to assess just how more we can give.

So let us consider all those people in our lives, even those with whom we have some difficulty with.

And let us ask:

How may I serve you?

How can I help you?

In what ways can I give you more this day?

When we give to others freely from our own loving heart, our inner being, without any thought of getting a reward or a return on our investment, we are rewarding ourselves tenfold.

And when this gift is from your heart, without any ulterior motive or hidden desire, your life
takes on the most meaning and you feel connected with all others.

It is the antidote to any feeling of being alone.. being disconnected.. or being separate.

Every time we feel lonely, we can ask ourselves how we can give more to others, some of whom
might be in the same boat as ourselves.

Every time we feel disconnected or empty, we can ask ourselves just how we can be of service to people we know, those in our community whom we might know and the world at large.

It was St Francis of Assisi who told us that through giving we can experience true joy.

So the key, the challenge we all face is to be able to give to others and to our lives with all our heart without expectation or anticipation... but for the sheer joy of giving, of being of service to others.

In serving others selflessly we serve ourselves best.

As we do unto others, we do unto ourselves.

And when we love others, help others, serve others and make life different and better for others how so much more do we make our lives happier, more fulfilling and joyful.

So dear and so beautiful friend.. do open your heart and share what is going on for you on this subject or any subject.
