I have this inner call to email an inspirational
message on life and to share the "wheel of life"
exercise with my friends.
Many of my emails promote my network
marketing business which I am very passionate
about and to me it is a stepping stone towards
a meaningful life and it is just one of the ways,
an option for you.
Network marketing is not for everyone because
many people prefer to make their fortune in
other ways such as a conventional business,
real estate or investments.
So let's talk about LIFE.
LOVE - do you spend enough time with your
loved ones and do you say these important
words "I love you" often enough to your loved
ones. I can assure you they will never be tired
of these wonderful words! Do you show your
love to friends and strangers by being kind to
them in your words and actions? Try a little
kindness, it will go a long way and affect more
people than you'll ever know! It has the ripple
effect and your kindness will be extended to
others!
INTEGRITY - are you following your core beliefs.
Your core beliefs are like the vertebral discs of your
backbone. It can be very painful when you go against
your core beliefs, it is like having a slipped disc!
You cannot do something that is against your beliefs
or what you think is the right thing to do!
Work with universal laws such as the law of cause
and effect, you reap what you sow!
FULFILMENT - are you happy? Are you living a
meaningful life? Are you doing the things you love
and living your dream? If not, why not? Check yourself
and seek help from successful people who are living
a meaningful life, many of them will be happy to
help you if you are able to connect with them and
invite them for lunch or coffee!
ENLIGHTENMENT - are you aware of what you
are living for? You can call it "self realization" and
for those of you who are spiritually inclined, discovering
God in your life or your higher consciousness
or understanding why you are here on this earth?
How long can you live? 85, 95 or 100?
What are you doing to live a healthy, long
and meaningful life?
A great exercise for you is to plot your wheel of life.
1. Draw a large circle that fill an A4 size paper and
place a dot in the centre and draw a horizontal line
across the dot to divide the circle into half, then draw
a vertical line across the dot to divide the circle into
four quarters. Draw two diagonal lines across the dot
to divide the circle into eight sectors.
2. Name the sectors accordingly:
Health
Family
Finance
Personal Development and Business Education
Moral Obligation
Social Contribution
Achieving Your Dreams
Spiritual
3. Then designate the centre dot as "0" and the line
that extends to the edge of the circle as your
benchmark which will end at "10" at the edge of
your circle. Rate yourself from 0 to 10 on how
much time and effort you've invested or how successful
you are at each sector. For example, if you think
it is average, you give yourself a 5 which is midway
of the line. If you think you have achieved much,
you can give yourself 7 or 8. Indicate it with a little
cross mark: 'x"
4. After you have rated yourself in each sector, you
connect the crosses and you will see how rounded
is your wheel of life and which sectors you have
neglected and will need to focus more time and
effort to live a balanced life!
Share this simple exercise with your loved ones and
friends because many people are not aware of how
they are spending their lives until too late and they
live to regret it!
Can you recall five years ago in the year 2003 what
you planned to do or the promises you made to yourself?
Can you see yourself five years from today in 2013
what your life will be and what you will be doing?
The popular saying, "Many people do not plan to fail,
they fail to plan." is so true when it comes to planning
on what you want to achieve in life.
You will plan a lot for your holiday journey, won't you?
You will think of what to pack and bring along with you
and which places to visit and what to buy on your holiday
trip and what souvenirs to bring home to your loved ones
and friends before the holiday ends.
Have you put similar efforts for your journey of life,
what to do, where to go and what do you want to achieve
and the legacy you want to leave to your loved ones
before your life ends?
We tend to be caught up with materialistic pursuits
and miss living a balanced life. When was the last time
your share quality time with your loved ones?
There is a survey done on top executives, not one of
them wished they spent more time at the office, most
of them regret they didn't spend enough time with their
family.
A survey was done on elderly people over the age of ninety,
they were asked: "If you had life to live over again, what
would you do differently?" Their answers were: take more risks,
reflect more, and do more things that would live on after
they were gone.
Finally I will like to leave with you this thought:
It is not how much you make, it is how much you live,
that really matters and make effort to live a good life
and live your dreams!
